Summer School on Advanced Techniques in Plant Science and Research in Greenhouses-2026

The group of participants and organizers

From June 8 to 12, the Centre SÈVE and CORSÈVE organized a summer school on advanced techniques in plant science and research greenhouses. It was a enriching week for the participating students, who had the opportunity to handle the plants and take photos and measurements using the phenotyping machine. They also have the opportunity to visit Bishop’s University’s Educational Farm and a Christmas tree farm.

This summer school was made possible by our partners, the Université de Sherbrooke, which hosted the event on its campus, as well as our participants from the University deSherbrooke, Université Laval, McGill University, and UM6P, and our funding organizations, the FRQNT and the Université de Sherbrooke.

Several folks helped organize the event: Prof. Peter Moffett (University of Sherbrooke, Director of the Centre SÈVE), Prof. Mohamed Hijri (Université de Montréal, UM6P, member of the Centre SÈVE), Mohamed Amine Chabane (UM6P), Dr. Sylvain Lerat (University de Sherbrooke, CORSÈVE coordinator), and the Department of Biology (University de Sherbrooke).

Thanks to our guest speakers, Pre Mirella Aoun (Bishop’s University, member of the Centre SÈVE), the students took a tour of the Educational Farm. Dr. Dominique Choquette (MAPAQ), who led a workshop on Christmas tree cultivation, arranged for the students to visit a Christmas tree farm in collaboration with Downey Tree Farm.
