Palmer amaranth in Canada: Competitiveness and early detection

 

The Nguyen lab is seeking a student interested in a Master’s project on 1) the evaluation of competition between Amaranthus palmeri and Amaranthus tuberculatus; and 2) the advancement of methodologies for detecting the invasive Palmer amaranth and existing waterhemp pollen using environmental DNA analysis for early detection.

 

Supervision: Prof Huong Nguyen

Start date: January or May, 2026

Location: St-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Montreal

Scholarship: $20,000/year for 2 years
